Surfweekend

6 maart 2015 - Anna Bay, Australië

Day 1.

I went with a friend. We got picked up by Alejandro at 7.30 from the McDonalds in Coogee. We got on the bus and drove to the city. There we had another pick up. This pick up brought us another tour guide. Her name was Robyn. After the city pick up we were with 18 and ready to go.

We drove for about an hour and a half to our midway stop. You could go to the bathroom here or get something to eat and drink. 10 minutes spent here and then we went on. After another hour and a half we arrived at Malaleuca surfside backpackers.

We stayed in a cabin for 6 people. And we had a total of 3 cabins. We arrived here at about 12.00/12.30 And after settling in we got an amazing lunch with nice bread, meat, cheese, jus, thee and fruit.

At 1 o’clock we had our first surfing lesson. It lasted till 2 o’clock. Then we got one hour to rest up and be back at the beach for our second lesson at 3 o’clock. This lesson was also an hour long.

After our second lesson we went back to our cabin to change and get ready to start the night program. We got back on the bus and Alejandro drove us to a liquor store to give us the opportunity to get some drinks and snacks. Right after that we drove to the sand dunes to watch the sunset. We had about an hour here until we went back to the cabins.

We arrived to find a big barbeque going on. The food was very good and the atmosphere was amazing as well.  After dinner we did a few drinking games to get to know each other a bit better.

And around 23.30 we went back to the beach to make a big bonfire.

We went to sleep at 00.30.

Day 2

We woke up at 8.00 to get ready for the surf lesson and to have breakfast. Breakfast was bread. Jam’s, cereals and milk and jus. After breakfast we went back to the beach to have our last surfing lesson of one hour.

The last thing on our itinerary was to go back to the sand dunes. Here we had a few options. Go sand boarding or camel riding or snorkelling or nothing. We made a choice to go watch the surf competition that was going on at the beach. Some of us went on a camel ride and others had a drink at the beach cafe.

At 3 o’clock we all got back on the bus to drive from there to Sydney. The ride was fast and easy going. Some of us asked to be dropped off at a specific destination. This was no problem.

The entire trip was very well organised.
